Functions of Velocity Modeling

Utilizing the materials of acoustic logging, VSP and velocity spectrum, velocity modeling extrapolates along the horizons and generates the accurate interval velocity model under the constraint of the structure and sequence models, and further generates
the average velocity model.

According to the conditions of the original data, we can provide three velocity modeling methods:

  • Use the well data to interpolate along the sequence to get the velocity model
  • Use the velocity spectrum to establish the velocity model
  • Coordinate the well data and velocity spectrum, to obtain the high-precision velocity model, combining the vertical resolution of wells and the transverse resolution of velocity spectrum together.

Features of Velocity Modeling:

Under the powerful support of the structure modeling module with the modeling capability for the complicated structures, velocity modeling can take the impact of faults, intrusion body, pinch-out, denudation and other geological phenomenons into account and build the accurate velocity model under
extremely complicated geological structure.
